Controversy erupts over climate-controlled vacations for seniors: "The Episcopo Council is acting as a tour operator for Rimini."

Controversy erupts in Foggia over the municipality's decision to organize climate-controlled vacations for seniors in Rimini . Nunzio Angiola , a city councilor and provincial secretary of the Cambia movement, contests the decision. He doesn't hide his dismay in a press release: "We are astonished to learn," he writes, "that the Episcopo government has decided to finance a vacation outside the region, while our region offers natural beauty, pristine landscapes, and quality accommodations."
According to Angiola, this is a shortsighted decision that ends up penalizing the economies of Gargano and the Dauni Mountains , areas that could have benefited significantly from an initiative aimed at seniors. "Those who govern Foggia," she says, "talk about local development and revitalization of the region, but then end up funding other people's tourism . It's a decision that leaves us frankly perplexed."
For the representative of the Cambia movement, promoting the local area should begin with the institutions , which should drive a new model of local development: "By doing so," he continues, "we undermine those businesses that have built their identity on well-being and hospitality. Institutions should be the first to promote their own land. Not doing so means not believing in it."
The final appeal is addressed directly to the municipal administration: "We urge the Municipality to reconsider this inappropriate decision . Foggia doesn't need export-oriented climate-controlled vacations: it needs to leverage its resources , and do so, starting with those who live in this area every day."
